Active/Static Var Generator (AVG/SVG)

P2 Power's Active VAR Generator (AVG) / Static VAR Generator (SVG) is an advanced power quality solution designed to provide fast and accurate reactive power compensation. Its operating concept is similar to an Active Power Filter (APF), but it is specifically optimized to maintain a high power factor and improve system efficiency.

When inductive or capacitive loads operate within an electrical network, they cause the current waveform to either lag behind or lead the supply voltage. This phase displacement results in poor power factor, increased energy losses, and reduced system efficiency.

The P2 Power AVG/SVG continuously monitors voltage and current parameters in real time using intelligent digital control technology. It instantly calculates the required reactive power and injects either leading or lagging compensation current into the power system. This dynamic compensation aligns the current waveform with the voltage waveform, helping maintain a power factor close to unity (1.0).

In addition to reactive power compensation, the system improves phase current balance by reducing load imbalance and compensates for selected harmonic components. This results in enhanced power quality, improved equipment performance, and greater overall system reliability.

AVG/SVG System Architecture

The P2 Power AVG/SVG features a modular and scalable architecture that enables flexible installation, simplified maintenance, and future system expansion.

The system employs an advanced three-level inverter topology with IGBT, Si, and SiC MOSFET power devices, supported by DC capacitors for efficient and stable reactive power compensation.

A complete AVG/SVG solution consists of one or multiple compensation modules controlled through an intuitive Human Machine Interface (HMI).

Each module functions independently, allowing system capacity to be increased or reduced simply by adding or removing modules according to application requirements.

For facilities utilizing both Active Power Filters (APF) and AVG/SVG, a common HMI platform can be used for convenient monitoring and control.
